Provillus is intended to provide solution to hair loss that presents cosmetic challenges. To test its efficacy, a pilot study was rolled out among 30 men and 30 women in their late 20’s until late 50’s. Provillus claims to stop hair loss, and helps rejuvenate hair follicles so healthy hair grows back. The product test was aimed to validate these claims.
The participants were given a three-month supply of Provillus capsules to be taken twice daily. To facilitate before-and-after comparison, photos of participants were taken before the start of the program. The periodic assessments will be once every four weeks, for three months.
After the first month, the participants consulted with a panel of dermatologists who specialize in scalp health. Of the 30 men, 24 reported that the number of hair they were losing a day significantly reduced. They noticed lesser hair mass in the shower drain. They also showed noticeable decrease in bald spots.
Of the 30 women, 18 reported that they were seeing less hair in their brushes and shower drains. The women who joined had less prominent bald spots than men. Their hair loss was alarming however because of the mass of hair they would normally find in pillows, brushes and shower drains.
After the second month, there were 27 men who were recorded to have less prominent bald spots. Most of their bald spots were found in the crown, and comparison was easy with photos taken at the start of the pilot study.
The number of women who had reported noticeable change also increased. There were now 23 women who said they had fewer incidents of hair loss. Their bald spots were now less pronounced as compared to when the program started.
On the final month of the study, all male participants reported increase hair growth. After-photos were taken for comparison to photos taken at the start of the program. Half of the male participants had been found out to have less perceptible bald spots compared to when they first started with the program. The remaining half reported marked improvements in their bald spots, and before-and-after photos showed their bald spots have shrunk in size.
As for the female participants, all have reported lesser incidence of hair loss. Comparisons of before-and-after photos revealed that 22 of them have successfully covered their bald spots, while the remaining showed their bald spots have also shrunk in size.
The panel of dermatologists concluded that Provillus was an effective alternative to hair implants and follicle replacements. Additionally, the panel also found out that by using Provillus as directed, hair growth can be achieved at an average of 1.5 inches a month. It also found out that by taking the supplements regularly, participants can prevent abnormal hair loss that can lead to baldness.
The dermatologists however have cautioned that any form of hair loss happening over an extended period should be consulted with a doctor. Abnormal hair loss – especially if no member of the family is naturally bald – could signal serious health issues whose symptoms include losing hair. Provillus is not a safe treatment for this kind of hair loss. Proper medication of the underlying health issue will address baldness.

I own a barbershop where a lot of bald men go to. Often, they complain of how embarrassing it is to not have a full head of hair. These men are in their mid 30’s and late 40’s, and lose their hair either because of heredity or because of stress. I happen to have been balding, too, and I understand how frustrating it could be to see your hair thinning over the years. I have only become more conscious of my bald crown because it seems to be getting bigger every time I look at myself in the mirror.
So I have tried all products that promise hair re-growth. I have used shampoos, pills, capsules, supplements, scalp paste to encourage my hair to grow back, but all to no avail.
